Thanks from the Bicycle Federation!
The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin would like to thank the Trek Bicycle Stores of Madison, Gary Fisher, Trader Joe's of Madison, Badger Bus, Saris Cycling Group, Trek Bicycles, Eastgate Cinemas, Madison Police Department, Billy Savage and VAS Entertainment for their generosity and dedication to the cause of bicycle advocacy. Thanks to the people and organizations listed above, the Bike to the Movies with Gary Fisher fund raiser was a huge success. More than 100 bicyclists riding along High Crossing Boulevard with police escort was a sight to behold. Even more striking was the same procession riding after dark, illuminated by hundreds of blinking LED bicycle lights stretching out for over one-quarter of a mile. It was an astounding sight! Additionally, it must be noted that Gary Fisher was an amazing guest of honor, entertaining the crowd with humorous stories, anecdotes and insight. Thanks for the autographs - my Gary Fisher Superfly just doubled in value! For those of you who missed the event, you missed one of the finest bicycling movies ever made. Billy Savage's movie, Klunkerz, made everyone in the theater think of just one thing: "I want to go mountain biking RIGHT NOW!". Kudos to Billy, and best of luck in your career as a film maker. I can't wait for your next work. Thanks to everyone who attended the event. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Finally, it should be noted that the Trek Stores of Madison are staffed by some of the finest people we have ever worked with. Their hard work and dedication makes working in the sometimes-frustrating world of non-profit bicycle advocacy an absolute blast. Our personal MVP awards to the east-side Matts, Arthur, Jesse (whom I beat across the line for the first and last time in my life), Pete, and finally, for going WAAAY above and beyond - Sara.
