Sled-dog video: Race you to work!

Yesterday, a friend in Madison (we call him the Dude, even though I am the Big Schlabowske) was shooting a little phone video of his ride to work in the snow when he came across this trio. I thought it was such a great example of fellow Wisconsinites embracing winter and having fun on a commute that I wanted to share it with all of you. While it would still be cool to see this if you were in a car, on a bike, you can join in the fun!

I live on the near east side of Madison, about 1.5 miles from the Capital Square, where I work. I commute by bike every day.  The only real decision is whether it will be on my 80′s Motobecane 12 speed or the single speed 29″ Motobecane Outcast.  Wednesday morning was of course a day for the 29″ wheels.

I headed west through the thick snow on Rutledge Street and turned on to Ingersoll Street, where I noticed tracks that were neither car nor bike.  While noodling over what these tracks were, the mystery was solved when I turned on to Spaight: Dog Sled!

Luckily, I had planned on taking some shots with my phone on the commute anyway, so I was able to grab the video. These back streets were not yet plowed (it was about 7:30 am), so it was the perfect place for a mini Madison Iditarod  for the woman and her two dogs.  And yes, the totally were racing me!

What a fun morning!

Thanks for sharing this Dude, it made my morning too.
